how we work
We offer a 15 minute telephone consultation free of charge so that we can discuss your child's needs and determine whether they might benefit from speech and language therapy.
We can then arrange an initial assessment appointment, which can take place at your home. This will involve taking a case history, informal and/or formal assessment and includes a written summary report.
If your child’s communication skills are appropriate for their age, then no further input will be required.
Otherwise, services we offer might include:
Therapy sessions – these take place in your home, school or nursery
Observations of your child in their educational setting followed by discussions with school staff
Therapy programmes – written targets, activities and resources tailored to your child’s needs which can be worked on at home/school
Written progress reports
The level and type of input your child receives will be based on their individual needs and will be regularly reviewed.
We also offer training sessions for professionals e.g. at schools, nurseries or children's centres. Training we have delivered in the past includes:
Typical communication development and how to identify children with speech language and communication need
How to use signing as a tool to support language development
Supporting children with Special Educational Needs in the classroom
Using visuals to support children with autism in the classroom
